Flying is like drinking

(1, 2, 3)

I have decided that flying with a budget airline is similar to getting drunk. Every time I come off a budget flight, I promise myself I will not do it again. Similar to the way that in the depths of a hangover you usually mutter the tell tale words:

“I’m never drinking again” *groan*.

With alcohol I have learnt from my mistakes and misspent youth and set myself a 2-3 drink maximum and that is only on special occasions usually I just don’t drink. However, I just do not seem to be able to quit my budget airline habit. I remember the days when flying was a rarity and seemed so glamorous and I used to feel jealous of those who travelled a lot. Now it feels more like being cattle herded from one place to another and those who travel a lot have my sympathy – I really hope you fly on better quality airlines and are allowed into the lounge!

When did flying become so mundane?

  1. Couldn't agree more!! I'm living in hope of being upgraded on our honeymoon flight, particularly as it will be our first holiday sans children!

  2. It's like being on a cramped, airless bus. This is my opinions, having only flown twice in my whole life.

  3. Ah yes, the budget airline! One I dont mind, it gets me to my sisters cheap & with decent hand luggage, the other well I still cant really believe we have actually chosen to go with them for 3 hours in March!

Seems i dont learn when its the cheapest way to get somewhere as would much rather spend more on a hotel. Although I would always check the other airlines first just in case!

Only once we got to go into a lounge, on our honeymoon and it was fab, didnt stop us having to queue to get on the plane though!

Ive never learnt with the alcohol either!

  4. I'm with you! We need to travel for a wedding in May, and while the temptation for a budget airline is there, I really don't want to!
