Random Fact

So as a break from all this wedding crap I thought I'd give you a random fact about me. I'm scared of filling hot water bottles. I luurrrrvvvve hot water bottles and could cosy up with one any day. But actually filling them fills me with dread. When I was young, about 9 or 10, I was filling a hot water bottle, it made some strange gurgling noise and scalding hot water erupted out the top all over my hand. Luckily #2 who was babysitting* immediately shoved my hand under cold water and held it there for a really long time. The day stands out in my mind not only because I nearly scarred myself for life. But because it was the day that I gave my pet rabbit away to the "farm**". She was a bitch of the highest order and my parents convinced me that by giving her away to a farm she would calm down and make her a lot happier.
This isn't my hot water bottle, I'm inordinately attached to a hot water bottle with an owl*** cover which was given to me by my Nana about a year or so before she passed away.

*I imagine she will have got into quite a bit of trouble for allowing me near the kettle
** Not sure what really happened, maybe she did go to a farm
*** Too well loved to publish photos

  1. It's a good thing you have O to fill your bottles for you! Or you can get the microwave version. Or pour them really slowly down one side of the hole.

I want a hot water bottle now.

  2. I love hot water bottles too! but do you know what I love more- that would prevent you from having to handle boiling water? my wheat sack! Lovely heavy, lavendar scented, microwave heated. and its shape means its just as affective for sitting comfortably on necks and shouldsers, but also tummy's and underneath frigid feet at night too.

  3. i'm so with you on that.. the gurgle.. maybe that's why I never have them anymore - I am scared to fill one! also I don't own one so I guess what you don't have you don't use..

  4. I love them too, that is, until we got a mattress pad heater. Pre-heat and bam, you are in a toasty warm bed.

  5. I love that it is so precious. I wish I had more things my mamgu gave me. Stupid teenage years of pretending to be cool.

  6. @Catherine - yes I do make him fill the bottles for me as often as possible.

@HannahB - I have a wheat sack too, I will sometimes have both the wheat sack and hot water bottle, I'm a huge believer in the power of heat.

@Meghan - I'm seriously considering getting a mattress pad heater.

@anna - teenage years mean I missed so much with my Nana - hugs

  7. Owl water bottle sounds wonderful! I got burned like that when I was little too - those things are scary when they make that crazy gurgle noise.
