I'm just going to randomly post this as if it hasn't been months since I last posted here.
I was randomly emptying the dishwasher the other day and realised it would be much quicker if I could still stack five hot glasses on my hand like I used to be able to when I worked as a bar maid. That got me thinking about things I learnt through previous employments but have forgotten or can no longer do.
Lifting hay bales - when I worked as a stable girl I could lift a bale of hay or push a wheel barrow full of manure. I reckon I could probably now do these things again as carrying 1KB has given me upper body strength that I haven't had for years. I was also able to spend the day in the freezing cold without complaining because I loved being around the horses and helping children learn to ride so much.
Carrying glasses - working as a bar maid taught me a great number of skills; how to pour the perfect pint, how to total three pints of smooth without the till, how to carry glasses and how to give back as good as I got in terms of drunken abuse.
That is all I can think of at the moment. What about you?

October is here
October is going to be a good month. The start of November won't be too bad either
I've been on holiday with my sisters.
My whole family is getting together to celebrate my Dad's 65th birthday.
Cass and I are celebrating our 30ths together.
I'm going to the 2nd blook club meeting - hopefully I'll have read the book by then.
O and I are going to Iceland - any recommendations gratefully received.
The O's family are getting together to celebrate his Mum's birthday.
Somehow all of this means I'm managing not to work a full week for the next six weeks. Woop!

a short commute
A long week at work ended unpleasantly with a minor emergency at the end of Friday. I tramped across the car park in the slight drizzle. Plonked myself into the driving seat and threw my hand bag and lunch bag onto the passenger seat. I started the engine and turned the cd up loud and sang along. I was halfway home when I spotted a little girl in the arms of her grandfather, she was laughing and clapping as he blew raspberries on her cheeks. I was almost home when I spotted some students running and laughing with carrier bags over the heads to protect from the rain which was now falling. I couldn't help but smile and the stress lifted. Weekends or days away from work are precious things.
Have a good weekend.

Work
(source)
This picture perfectly illustrates my attitude to my job for the last few weeks.
I need to get out of this rut.
Anyone got any tips/ideas how to get my motivation back?

Mini Moon 2
While we were driving back to Scotland from the Lake District, we had various thoughts about what we might want to do with the rest
of our time off. O has less holiday allowance than me and it seemed a waste to
spend the weekend and three days annual leave loafing about at home (not that
there is anything wrong with loafing at home in fact I could be a
professional). We also couldn’t afford to spend any more time at the Duck which
is why the stay was short. We talked about heading up North to see his family,
without the distraction of the wedding, so we could spend more time with our
nephew who is growing and changing so rapidly. It turns out that people won’t
allow you to hold babies while you are wearing a wedding dress they worry that
they might puke on you – I was rather annoyed as I’d been looking forward to
lots of baby cuddles. However when we got home we got some news from O’s family
that meant that we wanted to be with them.
So Saturday morning it was back into the car and on the road
up North. Our departure was slightly delayed by the fact that the DVDs with our
professional photos on arrived just before we were about to leave so we HAD to
stop and look at them. We had a lovely trip with lots of family time, even
getting to see my parents who were on a tour of Scotland in their caravan. We
took our nephew swimming (with his Mum and Dad) which was both lovely and
terrifying. It is amazing to see his little limbs kicking about it the water
but I was so scared that I might drop him or that he might swallow all the water,
he was splashing everywhere. We were even given the privilege of baby sitting
while his Mum and Dad went off for some couple time. At the time baby
nephew hadn’t figured out how to crawl yet and moved around the floor doing
seal flops. He was particularly determined in his mission to bang his head off
the marble fireplace so it was a constant job to turn him round so he could
seal flop off in a different direction.
We left on Tuesday afternoon, leaving my parents with O’s
parents – a scary experience don’t really trust any of them to behave
themselves without us acting as moderators. We spent Wednesday (my birthday)
our final day of leave, after a long lie in, going to the different banks with
our marriage certificate to get my name changed (living the high life).
Then it was back to reality and work.

Working 9-5
(from here)
I stick my tongue out when I'm concentrating - all the women in my family do.
Things are sooooo hectic at work at the moment which means I end the day feeling rather brain dead.

What a week
It's been a tough week at work. My department is being restructured and as mentioned previously it has come as a bit of a shock. I'm lucky, my job isn't really changing, I'm just changing teams and being given slightly more responsibility. For other people however there are going to be bigger changes and it is taking a lot of getting used to. But the negativity is sucking the life out of me. We had an "away day" on Wednesday which was supposed to get us all working together and bring back the positive vibe. Bullshit!
I'm off work for a week, when I get back I'll be in a new team and sitting at a new desk. Hopefully I'll be refreshed and ready to resist the negativity.

Spain
I'm just back from 4 days in Spain with my sisters (#1 & #2). This is what we went for and what we got for 2 days.

Unfortunately we got this for day 3 and 4.

Despite the weather I still had a great time catching up with my sisters and talking about the wedding, work, life, you name it. We spent 2 days in the sun, reading, barely moving, and the third day in the apartment watching the rain, barely moving. I didn't want to come home. Back to work tomorrow.

Interesting day at work
So I've had an interesting day at work so far. I'm getting a new manager and moving into a new team, all of which I had no idea about until 12:00. Wonder what is next on the agenda - oh that'll be the shit hitting the fan!
