Do me a favour

Wellies and Vogue asked what we were doing about favours. Well we haven’t fully decided yet but we have had a few ideas. First I wanted to give everyone tiny pots of herbs. The herbs could add to the floral decorations therefore reducing costs. But then I started worrying that we’d get soil all over the place and people might just leave them - as they wouldn't know how to transport them.

Then we moved on to watering cans or pails in which we could put a piece of oasis and a flower – again adding to the centre pieces but what do you do with a mini watering can after the wedding? Have still not completely gone off this idea.

Now we are thinking about packets of seeds for our guests perhaps in pails

Then I read Peonies and Polaroid’s post about her tags and it all started coming together in my head. We could have our guest’s names on one side and then instructions for the seeds/plant on the other side.

So we have finalised the place names we just need to sort out what the actual favour is going to be.

  1. I love that idea for the little buckets with packets of seeds, I can just see it now with the seeds in brown envelopes or paper tied up with garden twine. Have you decided on flowers yet? If you're going for ones that can be grown in the uk your seeds could be the ones for the flowers. xxx

  2. I can't decide. I think I will either not do anything or something edible. Although I may change my mind in a minute!

  6. p.s. I like all the ideas, but you are right about the soil. also one wedding i went to had the placenames written on plantable seed paper? so you took away your name tag and put it in a pot at home or in the ground and ou got a wildflower garden? maybe you could combine placesettings into it too?

  7. i love the idea of seeds and the little pails are super cute.. i've been toying with wild flower seeds.. but I'm not sure yet.. labels are a great as you can print on them, draw on them.. use different ribbons.. I've still got a label tied to our chair in the kitchen.. she had a pond life wedding and had hand painted everyone's name.. good little personal touch.

  10. Fay - meeting with the florist tonight so will be asking what flowers are in season in July. O is worried that the middle of the summer isn't really the right time for planting but hey what can I do, he is the gardener not me.

Rebecca - what is this plantable seed paper you speak of? Sounds lovely

ra - not sure whether to throtle you or thank you for the Cox and Cox recommendation. Their stuff is beautiful but their stuff is beautiful and I WANT IT ALL!!
