So what do you think?

Hi lovely readers,

I wanted to ask your opinion on something. I think we might have found our wedding venue. It was the third venue we saw on Saturday and we both really loved it. The thing is that the only date they have available when we are looking for is 11 September 2010. Should I be worried about the significance of the date? It bothers me, but only slightly. We're not American and we don't know anyone who was directly effected. What happened was tragic and I don't want to take away from the significance of that event. However should this stop me from having it as my wedding date? What do you think? Am I just being daft?

Thank you
R

  1. I don't think you should let it stop you. If anything, people should live life to the fullest on that day more than other days, to honor those who can't and those who died so that we have the privilege of doing so. Also, I'm from the midwest, and I have a cousin who got married on that day....it wasn't a big deal at all.

  2. A tricky one... only problem I can really see is that as soon as you tell people the date, they'll instantly do the 'face' and go 'Sept 11th?' I guess it depends how much you feel that bugs you.

I like Stacy Marie's rationale that people should live life to the fullest on that kind of day... could be a good answer to anyone who does the 'face' type thing.

P.S. Thanks so much for the links. Very helpful indeed.

  3. Ooooh too exciting! Wildly curious. I agree, getting married is such a wonderful, life-affirming thing to do it's sort of the opposite to disrespectful. Sounds like a great date to me :)

  4. Hmm, something to think about indeed.

I agree with what Conversation Pieces and Stacey Marie said.

The only thing i can add is that getting married is the important part. If you don't mind sharing your anniversaries with that date then go for it.

Babies are born on September 11th and as Stacy Marie said weddings are had as well.
